Program<\/strong> The County\u2019s mandate is not a substitute for parental involvement and vigilance or the exercise of common sense.<\/p>\n Southeastern Security Consultants, Inc. (SSCI), a national screening firm, conducts the background review.\u00a0 Disqualifying offenses consist of the following: (1) inclusion on the National Sex Offender Registry, (2) felony assault, (3) possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, (4) indecent exposure, and (5) all sexual offenses.\u00a0 SSCI shares with County Recreation and Parks staff only the names of applicants who pass the screening process.<\/p>\n Process<\/strong> www.baltimorecountymd.gov\/departments\/recreation\/jobsvolunteers\/volunteernow.html*<\/strong><\/a> Processing time varies but should not exceed ten business days.\u00a0 You will only be contacted by SSCI if your application is not approved.<\/p>\n Additional Information<\/strong> Volunteer Background Check Program<\/a><\/p>\n Volunteer Background Check Program Procedures<\/a><\/p>\n
\nBaltimore County requires recreation council volunteers to complete a background check.\u00a0 Covered volunteers include coaches and others who have care, custody, and control of children.<\/p>\n
